When a dynamic report is generated, the report is generated for a specific duration of time. You can specify various options that control the report dates and duration.
Fixed Start Date – If you wish the report to start always on the same fixed date then select the Use specified date option button, and enter the date into the Start Date edit box.
Automatic Start Date – If you wish the report start date to advance automatically as the current day or month changes, then select the Use current date as base option.
Go To - If this option is unchecked, then the report will start on the current date. However, if it is checked then you may then also specify whether to start the report at the beginning of the current month, quarter or year, and additionally adjust that date back or forward by any desired amount.
Adjust by – If this option is unchecked, then the report will start on the day specified in the Go To option. However, if it is checked, then the report start date will be further adjusted by multiple of months, quarters or years that are specified in the following edit boxes.
Note: when you use any of the automatic start date options, the start date edit box is disabled (i.e. is greyed and may not be edited), but it displays the current automatic start date according to the selected options. This allows you to check whether your selected options give the desired result.
Report Duration – You may specify any integer multiple of months or years for the report. A typical duration is one or more years.
Example:
To ensure that the report covers at least a full year from the generation date, and also covers at least two months prior to the report generation date, then set the following options:
•Use current date as base - select
•Go To – set to “Start of month”
•Then adjust by – set to “-2” “Months”
•Report Duration – set to “15” “Months”
