>> To compile a report
1.In the Report menu click Compile
2.Enter the name of the Source Text Definition File, or click on Browse to locate the required file using a standard file dialog.
3.Ensure that the name of the Output Compiled Report File is correct.
Click on the Compile button to start the compiler.
The compiler will then read through all the text files, first checking the syntax of all the text items found in the source file or files. The list box will show the progress of the compilation, listing the names of any text files that are being read, and the names of any report section titles as they are encountered.
If any errors are found, then these will also be listed in sequence, so that you can determine in which file and section the error was found. Any error message that appears lists the text of the keyword line which was not recognised as having correct syntax. This will make it possible for you to i) determine exactly which line caused the problem, and ii) allow you to check the syntax of the erroneous line against the list of valid allowable keyword types and required spelling of the keyword items. Once the cause of the error is determined, you can edit the relevant text file or files, and then run the compile procedure again.
If no errors are found, then the Output Compiled Report File will be replaced with the newly compiled version, ready for immediate use with any chart.
Note: Whenever a report is recompiled, the report structure is reset to correspond to the order of the sections as they were encountered during the compiling process. If you had previously altered the report structure (using the Report/Structure menu item), then any changes you made will be overwritten during the compilation.
